Hastings

In Vancouver, Hastings Street runs from Downtown to Burnaby, right through the Hastings area, which includes the historic neighbourhoods of Chinatown, Strathcona, Gastown, and Downtown Eastside, and other residential areas. The businesses here are supported by the Gastown, Strathcona, Chinatown, and Hastings Crossing business-improvement associations. The Hastings area starts at Vancouver's harbour, in Burrard Inlet, and extends south to encompass the magnificent Pacific Central heritage train station and part of the Skytrain system.

Providing high-quality, affordable water is one of the City's priorities.

Keeping water mains clean

Mar 26, 2013 – As part of ongoing maintenance, City crews will clean water mains in several areas of Vancouver between Tuesday, April 2 and Friday, May 31. Flushing water mains is necessary to remove sediment that gradually deposits in the pipes. Cleaning will take place from 7 am to 3:30 pm for most neighbourhoods.

Extreme Weather Alert cancelled January 22

Jan 22, 2013 – The Extreme Weather Alert (EWA) for Vancouver is cancelled effective January 22, due to improved weather conditions.

City waste collection services

Garbage and recyling collection in the northeast corner of the City delayed by snowy road conditions

Dec 20, 2012 – Some garbage and recycling pick up in the northeast corner of the city was missed yesterday, due to the snowy road conditions. We will have extra crews in the field today, and tomorrow, if necessary.
