Bloedel Conservatory to temporarily close for facility improvements

September 27 2024 –

Bloedel Conservatory will be temporarily closed to the public starting October 28, 2024, to accommodate necessary repairs aimed at improving accessibility for visitors and staff. The project is expected to take approximately two months, with plans to reopen in early January 2025.

The current pathways within the Conservatory are past their lifespan, and will undergo full reconstruction. In addition, certain areas will be expanded to enhance accessibility.

Due to the narrow and small pathways, the facility will be closed to ensure public safety and expedite the completion of this large-scale work. The closure is scheduled during the conservatory’s slowest visitation period to minimize disruption.

The repairs and expansions will result in significant improvements to the facility, with minimal impact on wildlife. Throughout the closure, staff will continue to care for the animals and plants within the conservatory.
