Vancouver City Hall closed due to power outage

December 17 2025 –

Power is back on at City Hall. Revenue Services and building operations will resume as usual tomorrow morning, Thursday, December 18, 2025.

Vancouver City Hall is currently experiencing a power outage due to last night’s windstorm and is closed to the public today, but staff and services remain available to support you.

The outage only affects the City Hall building at 453 West 12th Avenue. The nearby Development and Building Services location at 515 West 10th Avenue and the Crossroads building at 522 West 8th Avenue are not impacted.

There is no access to Revenue Services at City Hall today. Residents can still access those services at our 515 West 10th Ave location:

  • Payments: property tax, Empty Homes Tax (Vacancy Tax), bylaw fines, utility charges, accounts receivable
  • Decals: commercial decals, garbage stickers
  • Permits & Licensing: alarm permits, residential parking permits, business licences

Due to the outage, we cannot accept cash payments today. Property tax and utility payments can still be made online through your financial institution or submitted by mail. To submit your Empty Homes Tax declaration, please visit vancouver.ca/eht.

BC Hydro has crews onsite and they are working to restore power at City Hall. For power outage updates, please check the BC Hydro outage map at https://bit.ly/4s3TYzu . Should City Hall remain without power for tomorrow, we will provide updates on our website and social media accounts in the morning. You can continue to access City services through vancouver.ca and 3-1-1.
