Roundup of Business at City Council for the week of December 11, 2023

December 14 2023 –

City Council met this week to hear and discuss a variety of topics during Council, and Standing Committee on City Finance and Services.

Tuesday, December 12

This week’s Council began with the approval of the following referral reports on consent:

Council also approved Acting Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Duty Councillors: Roster of Councillors to Represent Council – 2024 (62 KB) with amendments.

At the Special Council meeting on Tuesday, December 7, Council heard staff presentations and public speakers on the 2024 Capital and Operating Budget. This week, Council debated and approved the following budget items:

Following that, 2024 Land Assessment Averaging: Notice to BC Assessment Authority (41 KB) was also approved.

Council then approved By-laws 1-27 (24 MB) and administrative motion, Resolution: Screening Officer Policy (58 KB).

On Tuesday evening, a Public Hearing was held where Council approved:

Wednesday, December 13

The Standing Committee on City Finance and Services began with the approval of 1115 Granville Street (2nd Floor) – RRRJ Holdings Ltd (“The Refinery”) Dual Licence – Liquor Primary Licence Application Liquor Establishment Class 2 (286 KB) on consent.

Following that, the Standing Committee heard presentations on Sea2City Design Challenge Award (2.1 MB), then approved the following reports and member’s motion:

Thursday, December 14

A Public Hearing will convene on Thursday, December 14 at 1 pm, for Council to consider the following:

A Council meeting was convened immediately following the Standing Committee meeting in which Council approved the recommendations and actions of the preceding Standing Committee on City Finance and Services. Council also approved By-laws 1-2 (165 KB).
