Election Office to open as City expands voting access

July 17 2026 –

The City of Vancouver's Election Office opens to the public on July 20, offering voter registration, election information, and candidate nomination services ahead of the 2026 Vancouver Election on Saturday, October 17.

Located at 305 West 8th Avenue, the office has been newly renovated to improve accessibility, including an entrance ramp, automatic doors, and a universal accessible washroom.

The 2026 Vancouver Election will feature significant enhancements intended to expand capacity, reduce waiting times, and make voting more accessible, including:

  • Five assistive ballot marking devices across Vancouver, up from two in 2022, to help voters with disabilities vote independently
  • A major expansion of advance voting, from 22 places in 2022 to 60 larger voting places, giving voters more choice in where and when to vote
  • Increased technology at all voting places for faster voter registration and ballot processing
  • Improved signage at all voting places to support wayfinding and identify priority access lines and translation services
  • Over 2,200 election workers, up nearly 78 per cent from 2022, to manage lines, assist with accessibility, and offer language support

City Council has appointed Vancouver City Clerk Jason Twa as Chief Election Officer to oversee and ensure a fair, transparent, and accessible election. For more information, read the full election readiness memo (132 KB) and the council memo on assistive ballot marking devices (112 KB).
