VanDusen Botanical Garden’s Harvest Days returns this fall with seasonal splendor

September 9 2025 –

VanDusen Botanical Garden’s much-anticipated Harvest Days is set to return on weekends this fall from September 27 to October 19, plus Thanksgiving Monday, October 13.

Visitors can celebrate the arrival of autumn with a full array of fall foliage and festive activities, making for an affordable, family-friendly outing that’s included with Garden admission or membership.

Building on past success, Harvest Days will feature engaging crafts, activities and games, fall décor, and live bluegrass and family folk music, performed in three daily sessions. New eco-friendly sculptures will be on display from local artist, Nickie Lewis, who creates artwork out of entirely biodegradable materials.

A selection of popular food trucks will offer a variety of beverages and snacks including Coffee & Cookie Truck, Bistrotvan, Popcorn at the Park and Melt City Grilled Cheese. Families can also find their way through the hedge maze or explore the Learning Garden, featuring raised planters, a sensory garden, and educational displays designed for discovery.

New Learning Garden

Attendees are encouraged to explore the newly completed Learning Garden, an expansion of the previous Vegetable Garden. Spanning six years of planning, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation and Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association worked with the Disabled Independent Gardeners Association to develop a space that would be truly accessible and facilitate interactive learning.

With just under 14,000 square feet of renovated space, the Learning Garden features a Garden Lab with eight raised planters, a central demonstration bed and seating for outdoor programming. Visitors can discover plants used for taco fillings or on pizza, herbs used in teas and even flowers for pressing dyes. New interpretive signs support learning on topics like sustainable water use and easy-to-grow edible plants. This is the Garden's first major installation in more than a decade and represents a significant investment in accessible, interactive education.
