Kits Pool welcomes back swimmers

The City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation are thrilled to announce the reopening of Kitsilano Pool with critical repairs now complete. 

City crews worked diligently over the past several months on repairs to the pool’s water supply lines and pipes. Work also included repairs to waterproofing, concrete and the pool membrane. City of Vancouver and Park Board teams then worked collaboratively to clean, fill, heat and treat the pool water to prepare for opening. 

“Today marks a significant milestone in our commitment to preserving and enhancing one of Vancouver’s most cherished community amenities,” said Mayor Ken Sim. “Kitsilano Pool is more than just a swimming facility - it’s a symbol of our city’s vibrant culture and commitment to healthy, active lifestyles. We are thrilled to welcome back Vancouverites and visitors alike to this truly iconic location.”  

“On behalf of myself and my Commissioner colleagues, we're delighted to welcome back residents and visitors to this cherished facility,” said Park Board Chair, Brennan Bastyovanszky. “Our aquatics staff worked tirelessly to make this reopening possible and while we regret we’re opening later in the season, I’m pleased to announce we have the staffing and resources in place so that the pool can stay open well into September.”  

Kitsilano Pool will remain open for an extended season until September 22, 2024.

Once the 2024 summer season ends, the next phase of repairs will take place during the off season. This will include the installation of a pool liner to extend the life of the pool, while a feasibility study to reimagine Kitsilano Pool is underway.
