City Council met this week to hear and discuss a variety of topics during Council and Standing Committee on City Finance and Services.
Tuesday, June 17
This week’s meeting began with Council’s presentation of the proclamation for World Refugee Day. Council business then began with the approval of the following items on consent:
- Vancouver Heritage Foundation (VHF) Heritage Conservation Grant Program – Annual Report 2024-2025 and Grant Release for 2025 PDF file (2.3 MB)
- 2025 Homelessness Services Grants PDF file (248 KB)
- Supervised Indoor Inhalation Spaces PDF file (328 KB)
After that, Council approved the following items:
- Reconciliation and Language Revitalization: Renaming Trutch Street to Musqueamview Street PDF file (1.1 MB)
- Supporting Development Viability and Unlocking New Housing Supply PDF file (312 KB)
- Local Improvement – Project List of Consideration – Court of Revision 642 PDF file (138 KB)
- Selection of and Terms for Social Housing Operator at 488 Broughton Street PDF file (140 KB)
- Vancouver Official Development Plan Legislatively Required Consultation PDF file (206 KB) – with amendments
Unfinished business, A By-law to amend the Code of Conduct By-law No. 12886 regarding independent reviews PDF file (21 KB), was ruled out of order.
Council also approved By-laws 1-13 PDF file (23 MB).
On Tuesday evening, a public hearing was held where Council approved CD-1 Rezoning: 469-483 East 10th Avenue PDF file (28 KB). The following rezoning applications have been referred to the public hearing on June 25:

Wednesday, June 18
The Standing Committee on City Finance and Services began with the approval of the following items on consent:

- Closure and Sale of a Portion of Lane Adjacent to 2096 West Broadway and 2560 Arbutus Street PDF file (225 KB)
- Closure and Conveyance of a Portion of Road within the Granville Loops Lands PDF file (181 KB)
After that, the Standing Committee approved the following reports and Council members’ motions:
- 2026-2030 Budget Outlook PDF file (165 KB) – with an amendment
- 2025 Quarterly Capital Budget Adjustments and Closeouts PDF file (272 KB) – with amendments
- Jumpstarting Rental Housing: Bold Action to Boost Rental Housing Construction in Tough Economic Times PDF file (106 KB)

A Council meeting was convened immediately following the Standing Committee meeting during which Council approved the recommendations and actions of the preceding Standing Committee on City Finance and Services.
