City Council met this week to hear and discuss a variety of topics during the Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities meeting.
Tuesday, March 31
This week’s meeting began with the approval of a communication on Changes to the 2026 Council Meetings Schedule PDF file (133 KB) and the following reports:
- Front-ender Agreement Amendment PDF file (4.4 MB)
- Consultation for City-initiated Vancouver ODP amendment for the Villages Planning Program PDF file (170 KB) – with an amendment
- Single Room Accommodation (SRO) Upgrading and SRO Cooling and Warming Retrofit Grants PDF file (189 KB) – with an amendment
- Funding Application to Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program PDF file (144 KB)

The Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities began with the presentation of the proclamation for Sikh Heritage Month and approval of the following items on consent:
- 245 East Broadway Street – Vernon Block – Façade Grant PDF file (3.7 MB)
- Contract Award for the Provision of a Recreation Management System PDF file (138 KB)
- Housekeeping and Miscellaneous Updates to the Vancouver Building By-law and the Electrical By-law PDF file (227 KB)
After that, the Standing Committee approved the following reports and Council members’ motions:
- 2026 Animal Welfare Grant PDF file (221 KB)
- Supporting the 2026 Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade and Festival PDF file (112 KB)
- Fostering Inclusive and Diverse Democracy Through Harassment Prevention PDF file (116 KB)
- Creating a City of Vancouver Festival Support Fund PDF file (28 KB) – with an amendment
Council member’s motions on the following were not approved:

A Council meeting was convened immediately following the Standing Committee meeting during which Council approved the recommendations and actions of the preceding Standing Committee on City Finance and Services.
A notice was called on a new business item:
- Restoring Lifeguard Services at Key Vancouver Beaches
The motion will be on the agenda for the Standing Committee on City Finance and Services on April 22, 2026.
