Roundup of Business at City Council for the week of March 9, 2026

March 13 2026 –

City Council met this week to hear and discuss a variety of topics during the Standing Committee on City Finance and Services meeting.

Tuesday, March 10

This week’s meeting began with the presentation of the proclamation for Eid al-Fitr, and the approval of the following reports on consent:

After that, Council approved the following items:

CD-1 Rezoning: (i) 1030-1070 East Hastings Street, (ii) 1115-1129 East Hastings Street & 360 Glen Drive and (iii) 1168-1182 East Hastings Street (30 KB) was referred to staff.

Council also approved By-laws 1-21 (3.5 MB), and new business items:

  • Requests for Leaves of Absence
  • Change to Business Licence Hearing Panel
  • Urgent Action to Save Car Free Days 2026 – with amendments

On Tuesday evening, a public hearing was held where Council started hearing speakers on City of Vancouver Official Development Plan (125 KB).

Wednesday, March 11

The Standing Committee on City Finance and Services began with the presentation of the proclamations for Nowruz and International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

After that, the Standing Committee approved the following reports and Council members’ motions: 

Council member’s motion, Advancing the Right to Food and Public Food Infrastructure (30 KB) was not approved.

A Council meeting was convened immediately following the Standing Committee meeting during which Council approved the recommendations and actions of the preceding Standing Committee on City Finance and Services, and a by-law (344 KB).

On Wednesday evening, a public hearing was held where Council approved City of Vancouver Official Development Plan (125 KB) with an amendment.

Thursday, March 12

A public hearing was held where Council finished hearing public speakers on CD-1 Rezoning: 2028-2038 Barclay Street (122 KB) and referred the item to staff.
