Roundup of Business at City Council for the week of February 23, 2026

February 27 2026 –

City Council met this week to hear and discuss a variety of topics during the Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities meeting.

Tuesday, February 24

This week’s meeting began with a staff presentation on VanStat Update on Roads and Sidewalks (7.1 MB), and the approval of a related motion.

After that, Council approved the following items:

Council also approved By-laws 1-10 and 12-15 (39.7 MB), and administrative motion, Closure and Sale of a Portion of Road Adjacent to 1710-1730 East Pender Street (96 KB).

On Tuesday evening, a public hearing was held where Council approved the following items:

CD-1 Rezoning: (i) 1030-1070 East Hastings Street, (ii) 1115-1129 East Hastings Street & 360 Glen Drive and (iii) 1168-1182 East Hastings Street (30 KB) was referred to the Council meeting on March 10. 

Wednesday, February 25

The Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities began with the presentation of the proclamation for International Women’s Day. The Standing Committee also approved Contract Award for Provision of City Fleet Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (180 KB) on consent.

After that, the Standing Committee approved the following items: 

Council member’s motion, ICE Out of the Beautiful Game and Vancouver’s World Cup (129 KB) was ruled out of order.

Council member’s motion, Meeting the Moment: FIFA Public Safety and Local Readiness Working Group (112 KB) was not approved.

A Council meeting was convened immediately following the Standing Committee meeting during which Council approved the recommendations and actions of the preceding Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities .
