Roundup of Business at City Council for the week of July 21, 2025

July 24 2025 –

Vancouver City Council met this week to hear and discuss a variety of topics during Council and Standing Committee on City Finance and Services meetings. 

Tuesday, July 22

This week’s meeting began with Council’s presentation of the proclamation for Emancipation. This was followed by approval of the following items on consent:

After that, Council received a presentation on the 2025 Annual Climate Plan Update  (5.6 MB) and approved the following reports and referral report:

The Report Back – 897 Granville Street – Sign By-law Amendment was withdrawn.
Council also approved By-laws 1-19  (2.6 MB), By-laws 20-30  (30 MB) and the following new business items: 

  • Requests for Leaves of Absence
  • Appointment to UBCM Executive

Wednesday, July 23

The Standing Committee on City Finance and Services meeting began with the adoption of the following reports on consent:

The Standing Committee then approved the following reports and members’ motions:

The Request for Review of School Liaison Officer Program  (15 KB), Improving Public Safety by Protecting Supportive Modular Housing  (18 KB) and Identifying Progressive Revenues to Protect Public Services  (14 KB) were not approved and the City-Wide Design and Development Guidelines– Phase Two Actions  (457 KB) was referred to a Standing Committee Meeting scheduled for September 17. 

A Council meeting convened immediately following the Standing Committee meeting and By-laws 1 to 2  (153 KB) were approved.
