Symphony at Sunset brings free outdoor VSO concert to David Lam Park

One of Vancouver’s favourite summer traditions returns for its seventh year as the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO), presents Symphony at Sunset at David Lam Park on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

The evening’s program will include classical favourites and selections from blockbuster film scores, including Harry Potter and Star Wars, performed by the full VSO under the direction of Music Director Otto Tausk.

The concert will temporarily move to David Lam Park because of Metro Vancouver’s Water Supply Tunnel project at Sunset Beach.

Getting there

Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, roll, take transit or use ferry service to get to Symphony at Sunset. David Lam Park is conveniently located near the seawall, nearby bike routes, Yaletown–Roundhouse Station and several bus routes

The TransLink Trip Planner can assist in finding the most efficient way to get to and from David Lam Park.

Two Bike Valet stations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis near the tennis courts and Roundhouse Community Centre. Cyclists will be asked to dismount and walk their bikes through the event site on the seawall.

Parking in the area will be limited. If driving is necessary, attendees should arrive early and allow plenty of time to find parking.

Amenities and services

The event grounds will be open all day for picnickers to set up early, as space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are encouraged to bring low chairs to avoid obstructing the view of other audience members. An accessible viewing area will be located on the north side of the event grounds, in front of the sound booth.

Food trucks will be on-site and open late, including Ay! Mamacita, Nami, Roasted Revolution, Super Thai Food and Teapressu.

Road closures and parking impacts

Road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Full closures from 6 am to 11:59 pm:

Drake St., from Pacific Blvd to Roundhouse Mews
Roundhouse Mews, from Pacific Blvd to EasyPark Lot 65

Local traffic only from 6 am to 11:59 pm:

Drake St., from Marinaside Crescent to Roundhouse Mews
Roundhouse Mews, from Pacific Blvd to EasyPark Lot 65

On-street parking along Pacific Blvd, Drake St. and Homer St. will be restricted starting at 6 am. Drivers should watch for posted “No parking” signage.

EasyPark Lot 65 at Roundhouse Community Centre will be closed all day Saturday, July 11, 2026, except to local traffic. Roundhouse Community Centre will remain open until 4:45 pm.

Limited accessible parking and a pick-up and drop-off area will be available on the south side of Pacific Blvd between Drake St. and Davie St. from 3 pm to 11 pm.

Event guidelines

Attendees are asked to help the event run smoothly by following these guidelines:

Do not smoke or drink alcohol at David Lam Park.
Do not use barbecues.
Use the pack-in, pack-out method and take waste home when possible.
Avoid bringing large tents, tarps, umbrellas or other items that may obstruct sightlines.
