Tomorrow is election day

October 14 2022 –

On Saturday, October 15, Vancouver voters will vote for 1 mayor, 10 councillors, 7 Park Board commissioners, and 9 school trustees. All positions will be held for a four-year term.

What’s on the ballot

There are 137 candidates running for 27 positions:

  • 15 candidates for mayor
  • 59 candidates for councillors
  • 32 candidates for Park Board commissioners
  • 31 candidates for school trustees

Candidate names are randomized but in numerical order. Voters will also decide on three Capital Plan borrowing questions.

Voting places are open from 8am to 8pm. You can vote at any of 82 voting places that is most convenient for you.

What to bring to the voting place

Bring your list of candidates on a piece of paper, a Voters’ Guide, a mobile device (photos of ballots not permitted), or any other device that works for you.

If you're registered bring your voter information card if you received one, or a piece of ID for faster processing times.

If you are registering for the first time, you have two options:

  1. Provide two pieces of identification (ID)
    • Both pieces must show your name
      • At least one piece must show your address
      • At least one piece must include your signature
  2. Provide one piece of identification and make a solemn declaration
    • If you have only one piece of ID, you can make a solemn declaration in front of the person in charge of the voting place.

COVID-19 Safety

COVID-19 safety precautions in voting places include:

  • One-way entrance for most voting places
  • All election officials will have COVID-19 safety training
  • All election officials will have been vaccinated against COVID-19, consistent with the City's policies
  • Limited number of people allowed inside the voting place at one time
  • Physical distancing
  • Disposable masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer will be available
  • Physical dividers will be in place
  • Surfaces and pens will be sanitized frequently

Ways you can help to protect yourself, election officials, and fellow voters at the voting place:

  • Wear a mask that covers your mouth and nose
  • Respect everyone’s space
  • If sick, please stay home

Returning ballots

If you have not returned your vote by mail ballot, you can drop it off at one of the secure drop boxes across the city.

Get unofficial election results on October 15 after 8 pm. Official election results will be announced on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

We will also be releasing results of Kids Vote, a program for kids at advance voting places on October 1 and 8, and Student Vote, a program for participating schools run by CIVIX .
