Burrard View Park
The historical pilot off-leash area at Burrard View Park became a permanent off-leash area in fall 2019.
In response to feedback received from our open house in early 2019, we modified the design by:
- Reducing the size of the off-leash area (OLA)
- Using metal bollards to identify boundaries
- Updating signage
- Adding additional seating
- Installing a water fountain
This OLA will increase access in the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood.
Coopers’ Park

The renewal of the dog off-leash area at Coopers’ Park was completed in summer 2024. The area now includes two separate spaces, one for all dogs and one for small and/or shy dogs. Both areas include engineered wood fibre surfacing, agility elements and seating. Water for drinking and cleaning up is provided in the main off-leash area.
The People, Parks and Dogs Strategy identified Downtown as being in need of additional and renewed off-leash areas (OLAs) to support the high number of licensed dogs in the neighbourhood. Improvements to the OLA were necessary to withstand the impacts of daily use and to accommodate the growing number of dogs in the area.
