Getting involved in your community

People are at the heart of Vancouver's food systems. If you are passionate about food issues, you can help.

Join your local neighbourhood food network, or attend meetings or become a member of a City or Parks Board committee.

Neighbourhood food networks

Vancouver neighbourhood food networks are coalitions of citizens, organizations and agencies.

Networks work collaboratively in and across Vancouver neighbourhoods to address food system issues. Their goal is to improve access for everyone to healthy, affordable, and nutritious food.

In doing so, they work to promote health, wellness, and positive change for communities and the environment. Get more information and find a network near you on the Vancouver Food Networks website.

How they do it

Each network is involved in a variety of food initiatives that respond to the particular needs and interests within each neighbourhood and community.

Food networks provide:

  • Food skills building
  • Education and awareness
  • Engagement opportunities

We identify neighbourhood food networks as a priority area in the Vancouver Food Strategy. We support networks through grant funding and other supports.
