Accessing City of Vancouver services during the Canada Post strike

May 22 2025 –

The City of Vancouver is notifying residents and businesses of disruptions due to mail services if the Canada Post strike moves ahead.

Businesses or residents may experience delays in receiving:

  • Property tax and utility bill notices
  • Parking permit decals
  • Rezoning and development application notifications

Property Tax and Utility Payments

Property and business owners are reminded they are still required to make their property tax and utility payments by July 3, 2025.

Notices are available online. Property and business owners can view theirs by creating or logging in to their online account

Alternatively, individuals may visit the Revenue Services counter in person, located at the Development and Building Services Centre to obtain notice details, including amount(s) owing. Photo ID for proof of ownership is required.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to plan ahead. Payments can be made:

Bylaw Fines

It is recommended that bylaw fines are paid as soon as possible to avoid missing early payment discounts or incurring late payment fees. Otherwise, unpaid fines may be sent to a collection agency and for parking-related infractions, vehicles may be subject to towing.

The easiest and quickest way to pay a bylaw fine is through the City’s online payment portal.

Parking Permit Decals

As a result of the Canada Post strike, delivery of residential permit parking decals will be delayed.

For Vancouver residents that recently purchased a residential parking permit but have yet to receive the decal, their licence plate has been entered into the system. During the strike, they are able to park in their residential parking permit zone without a decal.

Decals will be mailed when the strike is resolved.

Impact on Rezoning and Development Application Notifications

During the strike, postcard notifications will not be sent to inform the public about active rezoning and development applications in their immediate neighbourhood.

All rezoning and development applications open for comment and/or scheduled for Public Hearings are available to view on Shape Your City.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
