Candidate list final; ballot order available for the 2026 Vancouver Election

The candidate list for the 2026 Vancouver Election is now final following the random ballot draw, which was held this evening in council chambers. The official candidate list and ballot numbers can be found at vancouver.ca/candidates.

In accordance with Section 79 of the Vancouver Charter , the Election Office conducted a draw to determine the order of names on the ballot. As in 2022 and 2018, candidates' names are listed in random order rather than alphabetically. A random draw gives every candidate the same chance at any position on the ballot.

Each candidate has a number beside their name. Voters can write down the numbers of their chosen candidates to find their candidates more easily on the ballot.

Learning about the candidates

Voters can familiarize themselves with the candidates at vancouver.ca/candidates, where they will find candidate names, political parties, contact information, and links to candidate websites and social media. Voters who need help researching candidates can receive assistance at any Vancouver Public Library branch. 

Printed copies of the candidate list will also be available in the coming weeks at Vancouver Public Library branches, community centres, and the Election Office (305 West 8th Ave). Check vancouver.ca/candidates or call 3-1-1 for availability.

When and where to vote 

Voters have three options to vote in this election:

  • By mail: Request a vote by mail package at vancouver.ca/VoteByMail; registered voters can request a package by calling 3-1-1. The last day to request a vote by mail package to be mailed to you is October 5 at noon. After this date, voters can request to pick up a vote by mail package at the Election Office (305 West 8th Ave) until October 13.
  • Advance voting: Vote from any of the  59 voting places open from 8 am to 8 pm on:
    • Saturday, October 3
    • Wednesday, October 7
    • Saturday, October 10
    • Tuesday, October 13
  • Election Day: Vote from any of the 85 voting places on October 17 from 8 am to 8 pm
