Candidates announced for 2026 Vancouver Election

September 11 2026 –

The candidate nomination period for the 2026 Vancouver Election closed today at 4 pm. There are 8 candidates for Mayor, 56 for City Councillor, 35 for Park Board Commissioner and 32 for School Board Trustee.

The list of candidates is subject to change until September 18 at 4 pm, which is the deadline for candidate nomination challenges, candidate withdrawals and withdrawal of candidate endorsements by political parties.

Random ballot draw

The Election Office will determine the order of candidates’ names on the ballot by random draw on September 18 at 5 pm at City Hall. Candidates, their agents, media and the public are welcome to attend in person or watch live on the City Clerk’s YouTube channel .

Voters have three ways to cast a ballot

  • Vote by mail: Applications are now open. Apply by noon on October 5 to have a package mailed. Apply for a mail ballot package online or call 3-1-1.
  • Advance voting: October 3, 7, 10 and 13.
  • Election Day: Saturday, October 17.
