Plan ahead for game-day impacts

April 19 2024 –

As the puck drops on the playoffs, the City of Vancouver breaks the ice on what to expect around the city as fans gear up to support our home team.

The first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs starts Sunday with the Vancouver Canucks squaring up against the Nashville Predators at Rogers Arena.

“What a great season for the Canucks! As a lifelong fan, I’m thrilled to cheer them on as they enter the playoffs,” says Mayor Ken Sim. “Win or lose, let's make our home team proud and celebrate every game with the unmatched passion and respect that defines our city. Go Canucks go!”

Here is the schedule of Round One home games at Rogers Arena:

  • Game 1 – Sunday, April 21 at 7 pm
  • Game 2 – Tuesday, April 23 at 7 pm
  • Game 5* – Tuesday, April 30 time TBD
  • Game 7*– Sunday, May 5 time TBD
    *If team proceeds.

Traffic impacts:

Various road closures will be in effect on game days with traffic disruptions anticipated for those travelling in and out of downtown. Taking transit, walking or cycling are the best options to get around town on game days. Plan ahead and allow for extra time to get to where you need to go – especially near Rogers Arena.

For Sunday’s Game 1, please be advised that earlier in the day, various road closures will be in effect downtown from 5 am to noon for the Vancouver Sun Run, including a full closure of Georgia St from the Causeway to Pender St (8 to 11 am) and Pacific Ave from Jervis St to Hornby St (8 to 11:30 am).

Mobi by Rogers is helping to make biking to the games even easier by ensuring dock availability near the Rogers Arena at the Dunsmuir and Beatty, and Keefer and Abbott stations.

Game-day tips:

  • Walk, bike, roll, or take transit whenever possible.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to go.
  • Stay ahead of road closures at vancouver.ca/road-closures.
  • Follow all detours and abide by “No Parking” signs in the area.
  • Don’t let waste become litter. Dispose of your waste in the nearest garbage or recycling bin or take it home with you.
  • Be considerate of the community and keep noise to a minimum when leaving games.
