Are you ready for Round 2? Go Canucks Go!
Our Vancouver Canucks host the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night in Game 1 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Bring on the white towels!
The City is very aware of the high interest in places for community to come together to watch the Canucks. The City and partners are exploring potential public viewing opportunities for Round 2 and beyond and we hope to have more to share in the coming week.
"Round 2, here we go! It’s been super exciting watching our home team battle through Round 1 and the fans have been amazing at keeping the energy going,” said Mayor Ken Sim. “Having the playoffs in Vancouver is important on so many levels and we are so proud of everyone putting in the effort to make this a fun, family-friendly experience for everyone. Let’s keep it up!”
Game days have a special kind of buzz in our city and Wednesday will be no exception. Here is some information to help you move around the city more easily.
Traffic impacts
Various road closures will be in effect on game days with traffic disruptions anticipated for those travelling in and out of downtown. Taking transit, walking or cycling are the best options to get around town on game days. Plan ahead and allow for extra time to get to where you need to go – especially near Rogers Arena.
Biking
Mobi by Rogers is helping to make biking to the games even easier by ensuring bike and dock availability near the Rogers Arena at the Dunsmuir and Beatty, Keefer and Abbott, Carrall and Seawall, and Expo and Carrall stations.
Game-day tips:
- Walk, bike, roll, or take transit whenever possible.
- Give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to go.
- Stay ahead of road closures at vancouver.ca/road-closures.
- Follow all detours and abide by “No Parking” signs in the area.
- Don’t let waste become litter. Dispose of your waste in the nearest garbage or recycling bin or take it home with you.
- Be considerate of the community and keep noise to a minimum when leaving games.
