City to repave Knight Street from 41st Ave to 57th Ave this summer
Two lanes of traffic will be retained in each direction
Starting July 9, engineering crews will begin road, curb, sidewalk, and gutter upgrades on Knight Street between 41st and 57th avenues.
The work begins this weekend with the installation of a new bus pad and curb on 41st Avenue at Knight. On Monday, crews will start pre-paving work on the southbound lanes of Knight Street starting at 41st Avenue working generally in six-block sections at a time. Two lanes of traffic will be retained in each direction while the work is underway.
Once all the southbound lanes have been completed to 57th Avenue, crews will switch to work on the northbound lanes. Work is expected to be completed by September 30, 2022.
Access to all businesses will remain open while we complete this work.
Plan ahead and expect delays
Knight Street is a key arterial and the main truck route into and out of Vancouver. More than 5,000 vehicles an hour pass through the intersection of 41st Avenue and Knight Street during the morning and evening commutes.
Regular road maintenance is required on Knight Street to ensure it remains at a high standard due to the heavy truck traffic.
