Vancouver City Council met this week to hear and discuss a variety of topics during Council, and Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities.
Tuesday, January 31
This week’s Council meeting began with the Mayor presenting the Black History Month proclamation. Council then approved the following reports and referral reports on consent:
- Granville Street Planning Program PDF file (1.1 MB) – Terms of Reference and Interim Rezoning Policies – with amendments
- “The ramped up Granville Street Planning Program presents a significant opportunity to breathe life into the Granville Entertainment District, expedite new hotel development, expand tourism, create a signature pedestrian-focused public space, strengthen job space, increase safety, and support a vibrant arts and culture destination in our city - especially live music and a vibrant night time economy”, says Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung.
- Improving life safety in SROs: Updates and grant to SRO-collaborative PDF file (1.2 MB) - with amendments
- Zoning and Development By-law amendments to Schedule E building lines (Hastings Street, North Side, from Cassiar Street to Boundary Road) PDF file (332 KB)
Council then approved the following Council Members’ Motion:
- Increasing the climate-smart supply of renewable energy in Vancouver PDF file (112 KB) – with amendments as well as By-laws 1-4 PDF file (499 KB)
The following Administrative and Council Members’ Motions were also approved:

Council referred the following items to the Standing Committee on City Finance and Service meeting on Wednesday, February 1 to hear from speakers:

Wednesday, February 1
The Standing Committee on City Finance and Services meeting began with Council approval on consent of the following:
- Rupert and Renfrew Station Area Plan – Updating Still Creek floodplain and interim rezoning policy PDF file (1.3 MB)
- Update on the development of a sewage and rainwater management plan for Vancouver (the “Healthy Waters Plan”) PDF file (1.6 MB) – with amendments.
The Standing Committee then approved the following motions:

Thursday, February 2
The Auditor General Committee approved the following reports for referral to Council:

The Auditor General Committee then approved a Council member motion for referral to Council:
