
The race is on: Candidates announced for Vancouver by-election
The nomination period for the 2025 Vancouver by-election closed today at 4pm and 13 candidates are currently in the running for two City councillor seats.
The following candidates have submitted their nomination papers and are listed in alphabetical order by last name:
- Theodore Abbott
- Jeanifer Decena
- Guy Dubé
- Colleen Hardwick
- Ralph Kaisers
- Charles Ling
- Karin Litzcke
- Lucy Maloney
- Gerry McGuire
- Sean Orr
- Annette Reilly
- Rollergirl
- Jaime Stein
The list of candidates is subject to change until March 7 at 4pm following the deadline for candidate nomination challenges, candidate withdrawals, and withdrawal of candidate endorsements by elector organizations.
Random order ballot draw
The ballot order for the by-election will be determined by a random draw on March 7 at 5pm in the Council Chamber at Vancouver City Hall. Candidates, their agents, and media are welcome to attend in person or watch live.

How to vote
Eligible Vancouver voters can cast their ballots in three ways:
- Vote on Saturday, April 5 at 25 voting locations across the city.
- Vote in advance on March 26 or April 1 at Vancouver City Hall.
- Vote by mail. Request your package starting March 3 at vancouver.ca/vote.
