VanMapLite is Substantially Improved! March 2006

For of those of you who either choose to use VanMapLite or need to for browser, operating system, or security reasons, you will be pleased to know that VanMapLite has been improved significantly. Here is a list of the improvements:

• You no longer have a cumbersome two-step process to turn layers on and off; layers are now always on but are scale dependent so the map is not unduly crowded. More layers turn on as you zoom in.
• Many new layers have been added to VanMapLite. These layers have been in VanMap for some time, but have not been available to VanMapLite users. New layers are:
  • Dog off-leash area
  • Roadwork - Under construction
  • Roadwork - Road closures
  • Roadwork - Upcoming projects
  • Heritage Sites
  • Property dimensions
  • One-way streets
  • Orthophotos (aerial photos) from 2004
• A report showing assessed value and other property information is available when you are zoomed all the way to where you can see the shaded parcels. Just click on identify at the top of the screen, then double click in a parcel, and follow the link that appears below the map display.
• Documentation for each layer is available by clicking on the layer name in the legend.

When you want more information on a feature, you still need to first click on 'identify' at the top of the screen and then click on the feature. You'll see more information below the map. More information: VanMapLite System Requirements, Using VanMapLite
