Geographic Information System (GIS)

A GIS is like an electronic map except, unlike a typical map, which just shows spatial information such as roads, cities, and country borders, a GIS links attributes (like site ownership) to the map. This link makes a GIS very powerful because it allows you to use map information in a whole new way. Once you have worked with the map to specify what you want to display you can copy the current map view into a report or print it to give your reports and presentations greater impact and clarity.
