Oppenheimer Park programs

People playing basketball at Oppenheimer Park

Oppenheimer Park is a popular gathering place, which provides social, educational, recreational, and cultural programs and services to a diverse neighbourhood.

It was upgraded in 2010 with:

  • A new field house and washrooms
  • Accessible walkways
  • Children's playground
  • Sports court with basketball hoop
  • Horseshoe pitch
  • Patio spaces, picnic tables and seating areas

Regular programming includes soccer, baseball, music, and arts and crafts. Staff try to provide nutritional food as part of the daily routine.

Neighbourhood events

The park provides space for neighbourhood events put on by other community groups, such as the Powell Street Festival, National Aboriginal Day, Union Gospel Mission, First United Church, and the film industry.
