Definition:
The facet layer displays a series of indexed rectangular polygons that is overlaid on the entire City. Existing hard copy maps from the Engineering and Planning Departments are referenced using this system. This layer is included to allow cross-referencing of information between the older, hard copy maps and the new digital maps as presented in VanMap. The City's aerial photos are also indexed by facets.
In spring 2003, the Facet Grid Layout layer was added to work with the polygon layer and make it easier to navigate to specific facets.
