Definition:
The Youth Layer Group layer is dedicated to providing information about Vancouver for youth, collected by youth. It is a collaboration between the City of Vancouver’s Civic Youth Strategy and the Youth Community Asset Mapping Initiative. Individual layers will feature a diversity of information aimed at highlighting youth as a resource both in and to the city. In addition it is hoped it will help strengthen the support base for youth, enable youth a voice in decision making and ensure that youth have a place in the city.
The first layer in the Youth Layer Group is Youth driven organizations. There are no strict rules about being a youth driven organization; it is self-defined. These are groups in which youth spearhead ideas, are meaningfully involved in decision-making, and take part in action.
