Public engagement launched for Kitsilano Beach Park Seaside Greenway improvements
This August, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation is asking residents for their input to shape new design options for the Seaside Greenway in Kitsilano Beach Park.
Kitsilano Beach Park and the Seaside Greenway have been among Vancouver’s most popular parks and greenways for decades, with hundreds of thousands of people visiting annually.
With more Vancouverites choosing to walk, roll, and cycle than ever before, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation is seeking feedback on values and priorities - from the importance of greenspace to connectivity to parking – to improve the segment of the path running between Balsam Street and Ogden Avenue.
We want to hear from you
The public is invited to share feedback via an online survey and pop-up events in Kitsilano Beach Park, during three rounds of public engagement:
- From today until August 30, park and path users, residents, and businesses will be asked what is important to them regarding how they access and connect to Kitsilano Beach Park and the Seaside Greenway.
- The second round, happening in the fall, will ask people to evaluate separated cycle path design options and will help identify a preferred route for the path.
- The third round, in early 2022, will help to confirm and fine-tune the preferred route.
This feedback will inform future decisions about the path to ensure that it is a comfortable route for everyone, including children, families, and people with reduced mobility. Design options will be developed this fall, with a final cycle path route to be determined in April 2022.
