Since opening on January 20, 1980, Carnegie Community Centre has provided social, educational, cultural and recreational activities, and services for the people of the Downtown Eastside.
Programs and events
Carnegie programs and services can be enjoyed by members all year long. Membership fees are $1 and cards can be purchased from the Information Desk, 365 days a year.

Indigenous programs
Connect and learn to make Indigenous crafts, and spend some time sharing knowledge with Elder in Residence, Les Nelson, and Matriarch in Residence, Marr Dorvault.

Library and education services
Carnegie Branch, Vancouver Public Library
The Carnegie Branch of Vancouver Public Library has about 11,000 books, DVDs, and other media on the shelves, including extensive Indigenous and Chinese language collections.
Don't have the ID for a Vancouver Public Library (VPL) card? No problem. Come in and see us.

Learning Centre
Need help upgrading some skills or getting stuff done? Carnegie Learning Centre has been helping Downtown Eastside residents since the early 1980s.
The Learning Centre is run by our partner, Capilano University, as a volunteer-based program.
