Urban Indigenous Peoples
In Vancouver, we often distinguish between urban Indigenous Peoples (people who live away from their traditional territories) and Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. But this doesn’t mean Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh people don’t live in urban areas.
Vancouver has the third largest urban Indigenous population of any Canadian city.
City advisory committees
The mandate of these committees is to advise City Council and staff on ways to enhance access and inclusion, so individuals can fully participate in City services and civic life.
