Youth Outreach Academy

Youth Outreach Academy auto extrication

Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services introduced the Youth Outreach Academy to give select Vancouver students in grades 10 through 12 the opportunity to experience life as a Vancouver firefighter.

Over five days, these hardworking students learn valuable firefighting, life saving, community building, and fundraising skills. Since 2010, over 100 Vancouver high school students have graduated from the Youth Outreach Academy.

Students receive a souvenir DVD of the exciting week-long experience.

Donations help community based projects in Vancouver and overseas, including:

  • The BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund
  • Red Cross Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief efforts
  • United Way Lower Mainland
  • Douglas Park Wheelchair Hockey players
