  Know before you go

  • Protect yourself during hot weather. Review these tips on how to beat the heat
  • Walk, bike, roll, Mobi, or take transit whenever possible
  • Plan to stay ahead of road closures
  • On-street parking is limited, watch for no parking signs

  • Use the ride hailing pickup or drop-off zone: west side of 1300 Thurlow, from Jung Lane to Pacific St
  • Watch the fireworks at a safe distance without interfering with larger vessels

  Leave your pets at home

  Fireworks and large crowds can be very frightening for animals. If you choose to bring your dog with you, make sure it’s wearing proper identification.
  
  Information icon 97% of dogs that are licensed and wearing tags are returned to their owner. If your dog gets lost, phone 3-1-1 to inform Animal Services.

  Accessible parking is available starting 5pm on a first-come, first-served basis with accessible parking pass shown:

  • Park Board parking lot
  • Sunset Beach lot (open all day)
  • Stalls along Park Drive, by the Lawn Bowling Club
  • McNicoll at Arbutus St (lot 66)

  How to keep the event tidy and respectful

  • Don’t let waste become litter: put waste in its place.
  • Walk, bike, or roll with waste to the nearest garbage, recycling, or organics bin.
  • Use the “pack-in, pack-out” method, especially for large gatherings. Group gatherings often result in excess waste and can quickly overfill waste bins.
  • Bring waste home with you to properly sort and dispose of.
  • Be considerate of the community and keep noise to a minimum when leaving 
  • No smoking in Vancouver parks
  • Refrain from using barbeques
  • Drinking alcohol is not permitted at English Bay. Glass beverage bottles and containers are also not allowed on parks and beaches.

  Water safety and viewing guidelines

  • Follow safe boating guidelines
  • Carry your boating license with you
  • Refrain from consuming alcohol on the water
  • Kayaks, paddle boards and other non-powered vessels can head to the Inukshuk where there will be a safe area in the shallow waters where ‘grab lines’ will be available to hold on to. This will allow you to watch the fireworks at a safe distance without interfering with larger vessels
  • Boaters should also be aware of the exclusion perimeter in English Bay. This will be marked out by marine buoys
