  Know before you go

  • Protect yourself during hot weather. Review these tips on how to beat the heat
  • Walk, bike, roll, Mobi, scoot with Lime, or take transit whenever possible
    • Mobi by Rogers and Lime are making it even easier to bike or scoot to the event by adding extra docking capacity at busy stations. On event nights, their teams will be on-site to help riders get to and from the celebration smoothly.
  • Plan to stay ahead of road closures
  • On-street parking is limited, watch for no parking signs
    • Learn about accessible parking and lot closures
  • Use the designated ride-hailing pickup or drop-off zone: west side of 1300 Thurlow, from Jung Lane to Pacific St

  Leave your pets at home

  Fireworks and large crowds can be very frightening for animals. If you choose to bring your dog with you, make sure it’s wearing proper identification.
  
  Information icon 97% of dogs that are licensed and wearing tags are returned to their owner. If your dog gets lost, phone 3-1-1 to inform Animal Services.

  Accessible parking is available starting at 5pm on a first-come, first-served basis with accessible parking pass displayed:

  • Sunset Beach lot (open all day)
  • Stalls along Park Drive, by the Lawn Bowling Club
  • McNicoll at Arbutus Street (lot 66)

  How to keep the event tidy and respectful

  • Put waste in its place — don’t let it become litter.
    • Use the “pack-in, pack-out” method, as at large gatherings bins can overfill fast.
  • Keep noise to a minimum when leaving.
  • Smoking is prohibited in all Vancouver parks.
  • Avoid using barbeques.
  • Glass beverage bottles and containers are not allowed in parks or on beaches.
  • Drinking alcohol is prohibited at English Bay.

  Water safety and viewing guidelines

  • Follow all safe boating practices
  • Carry your boating license with you
  • Avoid consuming alcohol while on the water
  • Kayaks, paddle boards, and other non-powered vessels can head to the designated shallow-water safe area near the Inukshuk, where grab lines will be available to hold on to. From there, you can enjoy the fireworks at a safe distance without interfering with larger vessels
  • Boaters must respect the exclusion zone in English Bay, marked by marine buoys
  • Do not fly drones. Drone use is strictly prohibited because of airspace restrictions and safety regulations. This measure protects the Snowbirds Air Demonstration pilots and the pyrotechnics crews working on the fireworks display. Learn more about drone rules External website, opens in new tab
