Filming guidelines allow filming activity to take place in Vancouver.

All filming related activity, including move-ins, wrap-ups, and move-outs, must occur between the hours noted below. Permission to work outside of the hours may be granted only after polling neighbourhood residents and businesses.

Allowable hours for filming

Monday to Thursday 7:00am to 11:00pm
Friday 7:00am to 12midnight
Saturday 8:00 to 12midnight
Sunday 8:00am to 11:00pm
Holidays 8:00am to 11:00pm

Note: In some neighbourhoods further limitations may be implemented by Film Office staff.

When you can make construction-related noise

Monday to Friday 7:30am -8:00pm 7:00am - 8:00pm
Saturday 10:00am - 8:00pm 7:00am - 8:00pm
Sunday No construction-related noise permitted 10:00am - 8:00pm
Holidays (actual) No construction-related noise permitted 10:00am - 8:00pm

 Outside of these hours, construction noise is only allowed with a noise bylaw exception permit.

A ‘holiday’ includes:

  • Good Friday
  • Easter Monday
  • Victoria Day
  • Canada Day
  • BC Day
  • Labour Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Remembrance Day
  • Christmas Day
  • Boxing Day

Additional holidays may be set by the BC Legislature, Lieutenant Governor of BC, Canadian Parliament, or the Governor General of Canada.
