Steps to book, change, or cancel a rink

• Before you book

  We require up to 10 business days to secure skate shop staff for rentals.

  Reservations that require access to the skate shop and skate rentals are available from 8am to 8:45pm.

  Requests outside of these hours are subject to staff availability.

• Book rink time for your team or group

  Please submit your rink rental request at least 7 days in advance. Staff will process requests weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

  3. Reserve the rink

  4. Arrange for insurance
     • Insurance will be requested from you by staff via email once the online rink request has been submitted.
  5. Receive confirmation and pay 
     • Staff will contact you to confirm your request and to obtain final payment. Online rink reservations are due 24-48 hours after confirmation. Historical Renewal permits are due 10 days before the first session.

  Need skate rentals or equipment?

  During the online reservation process, you will have the option to select the “event type” and answer custom questions to specify the equipment you will need:

  • Hockey sticks
  • Pucks
  • Skating aids
  • Rink dividers
  • and more

  Information icon Equipment use requests are subject to staff charges for the duration of the rental period.

  Information icon If you need to rent skates for your rink rental, we require that you give us at least 10 business days notice to secure a staff person to open the skate shop.

  Information icon Broomball reservations and equipment are available only at Sunset, Kerrisdale, and Killarney Arenas. Staff charges will apply.

• Book rink time for your school

  You can reserve a rink online for your Vancouver School Board (VSB) school or private school.

  Please submit your rink rental request at least 10 business days in advance. Staff will process requests weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

  1. Log into your account 
     • Vancouver School Board schools must log in with their VSB email address. If you don't have an active school online recreation account or you forgot your password, email [email protected] using your official school email address. Please include your name and your school’s name in your email. 
  2. Find available rental times in the facility schedules
  3. Reserve the rink

  4. Arrange for insurance
     • If you are from the Vancouver School Board, insurance is not required. VSB groups have insurance during the school schedule and calendar year. 
     • If you are from a private school, insurance will be requested by staff via email once the online rink request has been submitted.
  5. Receive confirmation and pay 
     • When we approve your reservation, we'll send a confirmation email to the school email address you provided. Our rink programmer will contact you to arrange for staff and skate rentals. The final invoice will be sent to the school under your name. 

  Information icon The cost of the ice and staff will be included in the reservation. The cost of skate rentals will be added to the permit after the reservation, and the final invoice will be sent to your email address at the end of the season.

• Change or cancel your booking

  1. Email your request to [email protected] at least three weeks before your scheduled reservation to receive a refund.
  2. Use the online reservation process to submit your new request if you want to rebook.

  Information icon A $25 fee applies per cancellation request. Each request may have up to five booked times.
