Climate change poses many challenges for a coastal city like Vancouver, including rising sea levels and more frequent and intense flooding along our shoreline.
False Creek is a vulnerable area of Vancouver, and current shoreline infrastructure is not designed to withstand future flooding. We're working on a long-term plan to develop a Coastal Adaptation Plan (CAP) for False Creek and build Vancouver’s climate resilience.
What's happeningLearn. Prepare. Act.
We've completed our community conversations, online engagement, and outreach.
In 2021, the Sea2City Design Challenge helped shape ideas for a more climate-resilient shoreline. We heard from False Creek communities, partners, and businesses and worked together to build awareness about sea level rise and what matters to the False Creek community.
We will continue to explore opportunities to strengthen resilience in False creek, through projects like East Park, construction of Cooper's Tidal Terrace, and through development resulting from the NEFC Plan
