Droughts are prolonged periods of dry conditions and water shortages that can be caused by a combination of:

  • Insufficient snow accumulation
  • Prolonged hot and dry weather
  • Low rainfall

While Vancouver is sometimes affectionately referred to as “Rain City”, climate change is altering precipitation patterns.
