Neighbourhood councillor liaisons

Improving your access to city hall

This initiative is a Mayor’s Engaged City Task Force recommendation. We'll review the initiative in late 2018 to see if it meets the Task Force's expectations.

Two go-to City councillors for issues in your neighbourhood

When there’s an issue in your neighbourhood that you to tell a City councillor about, who should you contact?

Try your neighbourhood's City councillor liaisons – each Vancouver neighbourhood has two representatives.

Of course, you may contact any City councillor you prefer because they are elected to represent all of Vancouver.

What they do

Your neighbourhood's City councillor liaisons:

  • Welcome you as a first point of contact to city hall
  • Connect you with the right staff, department, service, or councillor for your issue
  • Participate in public events in your neighbourhood that may feature how city hall works and how to get involved
  • Represent your neighbourhood’s residents and businesses, while still representing all of Vancouver’s neighbourhoods

How they're assigned

City Council approved how councillors are assigned to neighbourhoods on October 18, 2016, and how the assignment process works on January 20, 2016. Councillors could request neighbourhoods to represent and then the mayor recommended the appointments to City Council.
