  Wheelchair-accessible voting places

  All Vancouver voting rooms are wheelchair accessible.

  St Paul's Anglican Church has limited wheelchair access. Voters who use wheelchairs can vote in the upper landing area.  

• 

  Curbside voting

  For voters in a vehicle who cannot enter the voting place due to a disability or health concerns, curbside voting is available at most locations.

  An election worker will support you to vote from your vehicle.

  Priority access line

  A priority line is available for voters who may have difficulty standing or remaining in line due to health, mobility, or other needs.

  This includes people with disabilities, older people, pregnant voters, and people with young children. You do not need to explain why.

  Independent voting options

  Magnifiers

  Magnifiers are available at all voting places to make the ballot easier to read. 

  Personal tools and apps

  You may use your own assistive tools when voting, including headphones for audio assistance or mobile apps to help you read the ballot. 

  Assistive ballot marking devices

  Assistive ballot marking devices are available with:

  • Sip-and-puff controls
  • Paddle controls
  • Audio options
  • Braille
  • Large print displays

  These devices are available:

  • October 3 to 17 (Monday to Friday), from 9am and 4:30pm, at the Election Office, 305 West 8th Ave. Phone 604-829-2010 to plan your visit.
  • October 3, 7, 10, 13, and 17 (voting days), from 8am and 8pm at:
    • Dunbar Community Centre, 4747 Dunbar St
    • Renfrew Park Community Centre, 2929 East 22nd Ave
    • Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews 
    • Sunset Community Centre, 6810 Main St

  Assistance marking ballot

  If you are unable to mark your ballot independently, you can ask an election worker for help or bring someone you trust to help you mark it. They will need to complete a solemn declaration before helping you vote.

  Support for voters who are Deaf or hard of hearing

  American Sign Language (ASL) support will be available on demand at voting places. Election workers are also trained to assist voters who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

  You are welcome to bring a sign language interpreter with you to the voting place.

  Support for voters with vision loss

  In addition to magnifiers available at all voting places, our online Plan Your Vote tool has been reviewed and upgraded to improve accessibility for voters with vision loss.

  Voter information in accessible formats

  Our voter information pamphlet will be available in large print and braille. We also have translated versions in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Tagalog, Spanish, Punjabi, Vietnamese, Farsi, Korean, Portuguese, Japanese, and French. Printed copies will be available at community centres and libraries or can be mailed on request by phoning 3-1-1. 

  Translated ballot marking instructions are available in Traditional Chinese, Punjabi, Portuguese, French, Korean, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Tagalog, Farsi, Spanish, and Japanese. Phone the Election Office at 604-829-2010 to request information in braille.

  Service animals

  Guide dogs and service animals are welcome at all voting places. Pets are not permitted.
