Hazardous Waste and Graffiti Hazardous Waste and Banned Materials The following materials must not be put in the garbage:
Proper handling of hazardous wastes helps prevent land and water pollution that could endanger both people and wildlife. You must dispose of hazardous waste properly. Never pour liquid hazardous wastes down a drain in your home or in the sewer in the street. They are polluting and cause damage to our water system and our streams. For more information on how to dispose of hazardous waste, call the BC Recycling Hotline (Tel: 604.732.9253). Anti-graffiti Program Graffiti is a crime and affects everyone in the community. It is also an offence under the Vancouver Graffiti By-law and/or the Criminal Code of Canada. The City of Vancouver takes this form of vandalism seriously. All graffiti removal from public property is contracted out. Private property owners can also obtain a free paint kit if they are victims of graffiti. Other programs like community paint-outs and murals are also offered. To report graffiti or find out more about the City of Vancouver Graffiti program please call 311 or visit www.vancouver.ca/graffiti. [top] |
