2010 Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games Building Permit Fast Track Program
Vancouver City Council enacted the 2010 Winter Games By-law
(2.04mb) on July 23, 2009 to regulate the design, construction and inspection for temporary structures and buildings for 2010 Winter Games special event facilities. Provisions in this new By-law provide a simple, streamlined and fast tracked building permit and inspection process. The process is structured in a similar fashion to the current Certified Professional Program with greater reliance on the design professionals to provide assurance that the design and construction complies with City by-laws and regulations. This by-law and fast track building permit application and inspection process is only applicable to VANOC (Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Winter Games) venues [see Schedule B of the 2010 Winter Games By-law
(2.04mb)] and City controlled sites [see Schedule A of the 2010 Winter Games By-law
(2.04mb)].
Please note that all VANOC venues as described in Schedule B have been reviewed by the City’s Olympic and Paralympic Office and VANOC; as such, development permits are not required for these venues. City Controlled sites as described in Schedule A will require approval from the Director of Planning.
There are two streams of building permit application process for the 2010 Winter Games special event facilities:
