2010 Winter Games By-law

Building Permit Application and Inspection Program for VANOC-controlled Venues

Building Permit Process

VANOC has engaged two By-law Consultants to facilitate and coordinate all VANOC venues for special event facility building permit applications and field reviews. These By-law Consultants will work with VANOC’s design team to prepare the building permit application documents, and will follow the 2010 Winter Games Special Event Facilities (WGSEF) Building Permit Application Flow Chart for VANOC-controlled Venues PDF(53kb) for the fast track building permit application process. The By-law Consultant is the only contact with the City to process the building permit; once all the required documents and clearances are obtained [please see the Building Permit Requirements form PDF(57kb) and Building Permit Application form PDF(56kb)], City staff will issue a building permit for the particular special event facility.

Field Review

The By-law Consultant will provide overall responsibility for by-law coordination of design and field reviews required for the special event facility. The 2010 Winter Games By-law requires the By-law Consultant to keep track of all field review activities [by completing Schedule F: 2010 Winter Games Special Event Facility Design and Field Review Checklist PDF(2.04mb)] during the construction of the facility. Completed Schedules must be submitted to the Chief Building Official when the By-law Consultant applies for Occupancy.

Occupancy Permit

In the place of the issuance of Occupancy Permit, the By-law Consultant is required to submit Schedule G: 2010 Winter Games Special Event Facility Final Inspection and Occupancy Checklist PDF(2.04mb) to the Chief Building Official when they apply for occupancy. Once all the required documents and clearances are cleared [please see the Occupancy Application flowchart PDF(58kb) and Occupancy Application Form PDF(61kb)], City staff will grant occupancy for the particular special event facility.
