2. Planning to Meet Your Space Needs (and Beyond)

    • Jacquie Gijssen, Senior Cultural Planner - Cultural Services, COV
    • Edward Wood, Manager Capital Maintenance - Facilities Design & Management, COV

Finding, securing and looking after the right space for your organization's needs involves a series of decisions, ideally based on solid information. How do you know if the space you want to rent/lease/own is the right size? Can you afford the needed renovations/tenant improvements or long term operating costs? Is it the right location? What kind of care will the space need in the long term? Is there even a demand in the community for the type of space you are proposing?

Good planning is essential to making informed decisions at each stage of the facility development and operation process and to delivering the best space possible. Join two City staff who deal with planning for space acquisition, operation and recapitalization for a quick primer on this important subject.
