Every Letter In The Alphabet
by Geoffrey Farmer

1875 Powell Street at Victoria Drive

Every Letter In The Alphabet (ELITA) is a year-long project through which Vancouver artist Geoffrey Farmer is commissioning, gathering and producing a wide variety of text-based works for distribution and placement in and around Vancouver.

Through this process, Farmer aims to create dialogue about the texts and the city itself. The primary format of the works will be simple black and white text posters, although banners, newspapers ads and other print vehicles may also occur.

Visit the ELITA project space, where the works, from three-word hand-written signs to posters, artworks and reference texts, will be displayed throughout the year. The project space, located in East Vancouver, will be open to the public and feature both a reading room and an exhibition space.

The first exhibition, THREE LITTLE WORDS opened November 20, 2009. People were invited to send their favourite three words to everyletterinthealphabet@gmail.com . Each submission will be turned into a small handcrafted sign and displayed in the studio as part of the exhibit. Signs are being sold for three dollars, with all proceeds going towards future ELITA projects.

The project will continue through the fall of 2010. A book of the collected documents will be published in December 2010.
