Background

Who’s Involved

In September 2003, Council confirmed a study team. Allan Jacobs and Elizabeth Macdonald, Cityworks, accepted Council’s offer to be lead designers for the project, subject to the retaining of a team to assist them. The firm Hotson Bakker Boniface and Haden, Architects and Urbanistes, were retained. Hamilton and Associates, Transportation Engineers, were retained to undertake the transportation modelling for the project that would help to determine if the resulting design options met the objective of maintaining transit efficiency in the downtown. Nelson, Nygaard and Associates were retained for their expertise in transit system design. It was acknowledged that the consultants and staff from Vancouver’s Engineering and Planning Departments and from TransLink would form an integrated team in the redesign of downtown Granville Street.

After Council endorsed the Modified Enhanced Existing design concept in April 2006, PWL partnership was brought on board to bring the approved design to a detailed design stage.
