Development Services includes two services to augment our efforts in achieving our mandate. These new services are:
Project Facilitation
Processing of major development applications—those projects of greater scale, complexity or controversy—is coordinated by a Project Facilitator. The Facilitator serves as the key point of contact for the applicant, the public and City staff, from the project scoping stage through to building occupancy. This consistency ensures the project is managed in a timely and comprehensive manner, with special attention given to early issue resolution, open communication and customer service. The mandate of the Project Facilitator is not to act as advocate for the project applicant, neighbourhood interests or City objectives, but to make the development review/approval process more seamless for the applicant.
Based on the type, complexity, and nature of your project, a Project Facilitator may be assigned. The decision will depend on project scoping, which occurs at the Enquiry Centre.
Project Scoping
Many larger or complex projects benefit from the involvement of a Project Scoper. The Project Scoper identifies key issues which will have to be addressed and resolved during the review/approval process. The Project Scoper determines which projects will be referred to the facilitated stream of processing, and determine which staff from various departments need to be involved in the project from start to finish.
