Development Services administers the land-use and life-safety policies and regulations which guide the growth and development of one of the most beautiful and sustainable cities in the world. We are front and centre, with input into cutting edge policies such as EcoDensity and the Green Building Strategy.

As the hub of the permitting process, much of our work is done in collaboration with other City departments. We also collaborate with our staff to develop ways to make our work meaningful and interesting. The Opportunities

Development Services has approximately 115 employees who work in a variety of capacities with education and skills in:

• architecture, building, and structural drafting and design,
• building and structural engineering,
• construction and project management,
• technical plan review,
• landscape planning,
• customer service, and
• problem solving.
