The Changing City

Vancouver in 1978 and 2003

In 1978 the city was photographed from a variety of viewpoints for a planning study. Today, those photographs are a valuable record of how the city has been transformed by recent planning intiatives.

The Panoramas

Please note: These panorama images span beyond the standard width of a computer screen. You will need to scroll to the right in order to view the entire image. Due to the size of these images, the pages can take as long as 1 minute or more to download. (The estimates below are based upon the optimal download speed of a 56K modem and are only a rough guideline. Download times will vary.) If you use a browser other than Internet Explorer try the rollovers or check out the slide show (WebTV users will only be able to see the slide show).

Other Changes in the City

Here are a series of street scenes showing how dramatic some of the changes have been and how some things never change.
